Friday Fancies: Summer Sales

If there is one thing everyone loves, it's a great sale. And two of my favorite stores are kicking of the Summer with amazing sales. Instead of your typical Friday Fancies post, I'm just going to tell you, that you need to go and check out the Zara and Anthropologie Summer Sales. Both are currently going on right now, and there are some amazing pieces that you must own. I went into Anthro this week and walked out a very happy girl. And Zara's sale just went live at midnight. So go and snag some goodies before your sizes are gone.

Happy Shopping! And as always thank you for stopping by and reading!

Steal Her Style: Kate Beckinsale's Color Blocked Outfit

So my inspiration this week comes from the beautiful, Kate Beckinsale. I mean come on, she's gorgeous who wouldn't want to look like her.  And she totally rocked the color blocked trend like nobody's business.
Source: Listal via Pinterest
I was able to recreate this look with some great affordable pieces from H&M. While my top is more of an orange then Kate's, it still gives off a great bright summer-y vibe. And it's currently available at H&M for $4.95! Ridiculousness right!? When I saw the price tag I was immediately shocked. And, no it wasn't on sale. It's actually part of their Summer essentials that are starting at $4.95. Pretty amazing if you ask me.
I also paired this top with a wrap skirt from H&M that I got at the end of last Summer but have only worn once. And it just so happened to be the same color as Kate's. Like Kate, I kept the styling and jewelry simple to really let the color blocked outfit standout on its own. Plus I was taking my daughter on a preschool tour so I didn't want to be jingle jangling while the kids were trying to learn. Which is also why I opted for nude flats instead of  pumps. Walking on a playground in heels wasn't something I felt like trying to do especially when the preschool happened to also be a farm.

I'm loving these bright hues this Summer. How about you?
Hope you enjoyed this week's style inspiration.

Weekend Recap: Baby's Sis Big Top Birthday Bash

So as you all know Baby Sis turned 1 a little over a week ago. But since Mother's Day weekend fell on the same weekend as her actual birthday we held off on having a birthday party till this weekend. I was super busy last week prepping for the party and am so so happy that it's all over and I have a little breather before I go into party planning mode for Big Sis.
And here are some pictures from Baby Sis's big day.
I made these simple little centerpieces because I thought the Hydrangeas looked a little like popcorn.
Mommy and her girls.
Reunited with my best girlfriends and it feels so good.
Successful cake smash. She was covered from head to toe in frosting. Thank goodness we were at our community park and the pools have brand spanking new showers to hose this little girl down. HAHA!
Big Sis showing off her face painting. I think we may need to have a clown to face paint and make balloon animals at every party. This girl loved Freckles so much.
I loved this little vintage ruffled onesie that I picked up on Etsy.
WHEEEEE! A little outfit change and some fun on the swings. This girl had a fabulous celebration.
Just showing off our crowns. Princesses all the way.
This just cracks me up. Big Sis stole my besties. HAHA!
And a little family picture to top it all off.

WIW: Emerald for May

Besides being Pantone's color of the year, Emerald is also the birthstone for May and Baby Sis. So what better way to start off the month then sharing my weekend casual look in this lovely color. I absolutely adore this color because its flattering on all skin tones and never seems to make you look washed out.
Outfit Details:
Top: J. Crew [on sale now here] | Skirt: Target [same here] | Sandals: Target [same here] | Necklace: Forever 21 | Bracelets: ILY Couture, Etsy, Stella & Dot | Sunnies: Coach

BTW, I cannot begin to tell you how comfy this J. Crew linen tee is [last worn here]. I used to dread wearing t-shirts but I've come to really see the value of a great comfy tee. They're easy to dress up with a skirt or perfect for running errands and chasing the girls around. I've been stocking up on all kinds of tee's for the Summer.

Happy Hump Day!

What I Wore: Denim + Pink

I overheard some ladies today while out shopping, discussing [loudly] how dresses and skirts are "too" short nowadays. That most women don't have the legs to pull them off. Mind you they were pointing at an A-line dress that hit at just above the knee on a Kohls mannequin. In my head, I just giggled. Obviously they've been hiding in a cave or something because I'm positive the dresses at the mall in say an H&M or Forever 21 are at least 5 inches shorter then what they were looking at. And even more, they've never heard of the maxi.

In these early months of Spring, maxi skirts and dresses are the perfect transition piece. They keep your legs covered if it's still a bit cool out but are still light for those warmer days. They're great for covering up if you're still working on getting back into bikini form. And let's be honest ladies, for those days when you just are too lazy or don't have time to shave your legs the maxi length is like a savior.

What I Wore: Blooming in Kate Spade

Easter was the perfect reason to wear this Kate Spade dress. This has got to be one of the best finds ever at Nordstrom Rack. I picked this dress up a few months ago for around $30. Ridiculous, right!? I can't believe how lucky I was to come across it. I absolutely adore this dress, the cut is just so flattering. It has a beautiful scoop back and the print is so on trend.

When I bought the dress it was a tad too big around the waist and the chest. But not enough that it would deter me from purchasing at only $30. I figured I would either get it taken in or shrink it. And since the material wasn't anything that could get ruined in the wash, I decided to try the latter of the two options. The end product was a perfect fit. So glad I tried that before shelling out money to get it tailored.

I've found myself needing to try shrinking a lot of my clothes lately. I'm truly grateful that shedding all the baby weight and then some has been easy. But it's getting a bit ridiculous now, I'm starting to feel like a 12 year old boy. Which makes it hard to find clothing that fits, especially bottoms. I actually had to reach out to my good friend, who happens to be very petite, to find some jean suggestions. Would love to hear suggestions from any of you petite gals as well.

What I Wore: A Little Prabal Gurung and Target Love

The Prabal Gurung for Target collaboration launched last month and it's now on sale at your local Target store. There was nothing in the collection I wanted more then the sought after neon ankle strap heels and luckily there was one left in my size. WooHoo! I swear I checked several times at all 4 stores in my area and none had them. But while I was stopping in to grab some diapers and snacks for the little ones, I wandered through and noticed the entire collection was on sale. So I headed directly to the shoe department to see if they had any and to my surprise there they were, the neon heels. I definitely did the happy dance in the store at that moment. I mean I've become a little crazy about neon's and bright colors in general. I've never been one to wear tons of black. So this trend just hits the spot.
You can kind of see I'm still excited about my Target find. I could not wait to wear these pretty shoes. Only downfall these shoes run a tad big. I'm definitely going to have to grab some inserts and we'll be all set. Even so, these heels are quite comfy and perfect for the warmer days ahead.
The Details:
Blazer: Target [similar here, saw a similar one also at H&M on sale for $15 currently] | Top: Armani Exchange [similar here and here] | Jeans: American Eagle [same here] | Shoes: Prabal Gurung [similar here] | Bag: Target [last worn here, similar here] | Bracelets: Lotus Blossom Design [shop here], Groopdealz [similar here] | Sunnies: Vince Camuto [same here

I cannot get over how much Target has been stepping up their game in the fashion department. It makes going to Target and walking out with just what I came for almost impossible to do. I am always getting sidetracked with all sorts of things. They're collaborations with high end designers just seem to be hitting the spot.

Speaking of collaborations, stay tuned because I'll be reviewing the Joe Fresh for JCPenney later this week.

What I Wore: Sequins + Floral

With Spring in the air and temperatures in the 80's, all I want to do is wear twirly skirts.  And this floral skirt just screams Spring. I'm not even sure how long I've had this skirt, but I do know it's one of my favorites.

A great floral print skirt is perfect for pairing with stripes. It's a little bit nautical with a feminine flair, and I do have a love for nautical styles. Lastly, throw on a neutral blazer in a similar tone for the evenings when the temperature inevitably drops and the wind picks up.
The Details:
Jacket: Abercrombie & Fitch [another keeper from my Brand Rep days, similar here] | Shirt: J. Crew [similar here & here] | Skirt: Forever 21 [old, similar here] | Shoes: Steve Madden via TJ Maxx [similar here] | Necklace: unknown via Nordstrom Rack [last worn here, similar here] | Bracelet: Stella & Dot | Rings: GroopDealz
