Shifty

Yes, it's Fall. And yes, I'm still wearing neon. It's a bit hard to jump head first into Fall fashion when it's still so warm out during the day. I try to work in Fall colors or trends but then I go outside and it's 90 degrees and it's got me feeling all summery again. It's not until after 4 in the afternoon that it starts to cool. So for now I'm still strutting about town in my Summer favorites. And this little neon DVF number is amongst my favorites. It needs nothing to give it pizzazz and that may be the reason I love it so much. It stands out all on its own no statement necklace or arm party needed. It's a comfy number that I can literally throw on in a rush and head out the door to do my morning errands and preschool drop off.

Sporting a Leather Cap 2 Ways

So my good friend Bianca over at Lotus Blossom Design had me re-thinking my ban against baseball caps. All Summer long I lived in my Panama hat and my big floppy sun hats. But now that it's officially Fall it's time to find a new hat for the season. And I've been seeing a lot of faux leather baseball caps. But I've always kept a distance from them because I swear I look like an Asian tourist and well that's not the cutest look. However, after seeing how cute B looked in her's I thought I would give it a second chance.
So after dropping Big Sis off at preschool, Baby Sis and I ran our errands and did our typical mall crawl. And I stumbled upon this lovely bordeaux faux leather cap. It was love at first sight. I loved that it wasn't your typical black faux leather, and don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with that. I just felt like black faux leather was a little too edgy for my taste, but the rich wine color just called out to me. Gave it a try, and off to the register we went.
Long story, short, I've been pretty much living in it all weekend. Can't get enough of this hat. I've literally been planning my outfits around it. Which leads me to today's look(s). I decided since I had so much wearing it all weekend, I would share with you guys 2 different ways to style a faux leather baseball cap.

Grid And Bare It

If you're anything like me, then even though you weren't at New York Fashion Week you were still following all the fashions from afar. With so many forms of social media there's so many ways to see what was happening without having to be there.
What stood out to me in so many pictures was all the grid prints. It seemed everyone was wearing some variation of it. And so many collections offered grid print pieces. Seems to me that the grid print will be replacing stripes this season. And don't get me wrong, I love stripes but the grid print is a fresh take on the classic stripe. So I went looking for ways to work this new print into my Fall wardrobe along with my new Phillip Lim for Target purchases.

Rhinestones + Elephants

First I want to start off saying that we're moving!!! Crazy business. Granted it's just across town, but still exciting. Thinking about having to move everything though is daunting. I'm not really the greatest at condensing things down so we may have an issue. Especially with all the baby stuff. I'm just not ready to part with any of it. And that's the other sad part, we've been in our house for 5 years now and we brought both girls home here so I may cry when we do finally say good-bye to this house. Also I'll most likely be posting less since I'll be packing and cleaning the house. And that giveaway I promised last week, I'll have to hold off on until next week. Sorry!
On to other things, with the recent Labor Day sales, I just had to share with you my favorite find, the J. Crew Tilda rhinestone top. Since it's release earlier this year, I've had my eye on it, but was not willing to shell out the money for it. But lucky me, I found it marked down plus the additional 30% off at J. Crew in SD. I snatched up the very last one in my size and scurried off to the registers. I couldn't believe my luck. I just adore the rhinestone detailing on the collar. I immediately washed and pressed it so I could wear it. HAHA! When I love something I just can't help myself. Did you guys find anything amazing during all the Labor Day sales?

WIW: Drop Waist

I'm glad to say I'm back in action! So much has been going on that's kept me away from blogging, but I'm so happy to have some time to get back on and connect with you all again. Since Big Sis just started preschool it means all those germs she's been encountering at school have been brought home and well we've been battling a cold around here that's just been so draining. Baby sis got the worst of it with bronchitis. Luckily we've got an amazing pediatrician and antibiotics and are now on the mend. Hopefully it'll stay that way.

So since I've been doing a lot of running around lately between doctors appointments and taking Big Sis to preschool, I've been opting for comfy looks. And one of my favorite looks these days is the drop waist dress. It's comfy and chic and works great dressed up or down. I recently stopped into H&M to check out their fall arrivals and came across this printed drop waist dress that immediately grabbed my attention. It's a great Summer/Fall transition piece. Pair it with some gladiator sandals for Summer and some booties for fall. Or even add a pair of leggings and you've got a great fall look.

These are the kinds of pieces I've been looking to add to my closet since it's too hot here to even consider putting on a pair of jeans and will probably stay this way at least until October. I'm actually quite jealous of you ladies that are already breaking out some of those amazing fall pieces I've spotted at J. Crew. You won't catch me in any of that until the very end of the year or even January. Some may consider us lucky to live in sunny Socal but I'm ready for a break from this heat.

WIW: All Black

So my last post I shared my bright look and today I'm going the complete opposite direction with an all black look. I honestly contemplated what I would wear for the longest time. As I said last time I was invited to a taping of The Voice and they specified that they would like their audience to wear dark colors and no white or sparkly clothing. But I wouldn't be me if I didn't have some touches of color. They never said I couldn't have bright accessories. All in all it was a great day and lots of fun. I can't wait for The Voice to air. Maybe you'll catch a glimpse of me in the audience. Haha!

After a long day of taping, I finally got to break out my trusty iPhone again and quickly snap this picture at Universal Studios.

WIW: B&W

Black and white, the most common color combination, but definitely the hardest one for me to get into. I know, weird right!?! I've never been drawn to black clothing as far as I can remember. Maybe it's the Abercrombie brain, you know the weird thing A&F has against wearing black. Ha! I don't know, I mean I did work there for several years while I was in college. No but really, I guess black has always seemed a bit harsh to me so I've always gravitated to brights. However, every now and then I give it a try with the addition of at least one bright accessory or shoes.
And did I mention in my previous post, here, that I snagged these Zara inspired culottes in every color!? Whoops! They were calling out to me.

WIW: Summer Stripes

I'm assuming that by now, you all may have noticed my love of prints, all prints from florals to seahorses. I've rocked them all this Summer, but I feel like there is one print that stands the test of time. Stripes. They're just classic. And all Summer long when I don't know what to wear I just go right to my striped tee and find some inspiration. Pair it with shorts, jeans, skirt, or layered with a dress, it all works. You really can't go wrong with a striped tee, I guess that's probably why I own just about every kind of striped top, long sleeve, short sleeve, tank, peplum, the list goes on.
Today's outfit stemmed from the fact that I literally had no idea what I wanted to wear, and so I went straight for the stripes and kept the look simple. But even simple can be fun. I decided to change it up a bit glam up my typical casual Summer look by adding some fabulous metallic platforms.
Now, when I ordered these shoes I wasn't quite sure if I could rock them because they were a little naughty to me. But I've become obsessed with them. Worn casually they're not as naughty as I thought.
