Pop of Radiant Orchid

My everyday look is generally pretty casual with fun accents and accessories. That's why I absolutely love Rebecca Minkoff's handbags. She never fails to create a must-have bag in the hottest colors. And most recently, I've been eyeing her MAB tote. So when I spotted it in this gorgeous shade of purple, I just knew I had to have it. It's perfect considering Pantone's color of the year is radiant orchid. And when you have a fabulous bag like this to tote around you really don't need much else to make a statement.

Let me also say this bag holds everything! With a toddler and preschooler, I carry everything from sippy cups to extra clothes, so I love that it can double as a diaper bag without looking like one.

Overalls

So I finally found them, the overalls that fit just right. I did quite a search for these. My requirements were that they tapered at the end but still had a relaxed boyfriend fit without being too baggy. If you're like me then you know that this is a hard combination to find. I've never bought an actual pair of boyfriend jeans because they are always too baggy. I just buy regular skinny jeans in the next size up to achieve the look. I've found that many actual "boyfriend" jeans literally can be put on and taken off without unbuttoning or unzipping. And clearly that's not going to work.

But going back to these overalls, I'm very satisfied with the fit and wash. And the price was very reasonable. So if you are considering a pair you must check out Express for these overalls. Plus they always have great discount offers. I hardly shop at Express but I am obsessed with these.  I wore them with flats while taking the girls to dance class and then switched them up for some neon heels later in the day.

Colorful Spring Layers

If I had to pick a season that best fit my style, it would most definitely be Spring. I love color, especially shades of pink. That's why I had to snatch up this pink skirt from H&M's collection with Miranda Kerr. Best part is the skirt was only $14.95, basically a steal! It's the perfect Spring addition to any wardrobe. And really, who doesn't adore Miranda Kerr's ladylike style!?

Denim Days

There was a time in my life where I absolutely dreaded denim. And honestly I can't believe I ever felt that way. I blame the awkward middle school years and questionable fashion choices for those feelings. I just can't imagine anything better than a few great denim staples and that's what this denim vest really is. It's such a great layering piece, especially since it's been too warm for a denim jacket but still cool enough in the evenings for light outerwear.

Cheers to the 90's

Even though it's 2014, I swear when I go into stores like Forever 21 and H&M, it's like I'm right back in my childhood. It's like the 90's have returned, denim skirts, acid wash everything, overalls, crop tops, mix and match separates and even keds, these are all things I grew up wearing. Now they've all come back in style again.

Anyways, if you haven't taken notice of it yourself then just head on over to your local mall and check out the 90's revival. But for many of us it's a little too much. So instead it's a better idea to just take a small element of the 90's trend and work it into your everyday look, to keep from seeming like you're trying to hard.

I vowed I would never tie another shirt or sweatshirt around my waist after about the 10th grade, but I guess I'm breaking that vow. Because I actually find if paired with a chic pair of faux leather shorts it can really work. And don't forget to add some sparkle and girly accessories to pull this look together and keep it from looking like you were just too lazy to hold your shirt.

Whiten Your Day

It only feels right that for my first blog post back, I share one of my favorite Spring and Summer looks, white on white. I don't know about you guys but it's already been well over 90 degrees here in So Cal, so an all white look always seems to keep me cool.
Jacket: Abercrombie & Fitch [from my college days, similar here & here] | Top: Forever 21 [similar here] | Jeans: American Eagle [similar here] | Shoes: Zara | Bag: Phillip Lim for Target | Sunnies: Ray-Ban [vintage, current version here] | Watch: Michael Kors | Necklace: Groopdealz | Bracelet: Lulu's
A tip for creating your on all white outfit is try mixing textures, like I did with the eyelet peplum. It keeps the look fresh and effortless. Best part is we all have various white pieces in our closets, so it's an easy and cheap look to create. You don't need to go out and find trendy pieces that either you never wear again or only lasts a season. White will always be in.

WIW: Drop Waist

I'm glad to say I'm back in action! So much has been going on that's kept me away from blogging, but I'm so happy to have some time to get back on and connect with you all again. Since Big Sis just started preschool it means all those germs she's been encountering at school have been brought home and well we've been battling a cold around here that's just been so draining. Baby sis got the worst of it with bronchitis. Luckily we've got an amazing pediatrician and antibiotics and are now on the mend. Hopefully it'll stay that way.

So since I've been doing a lot of running around lately between doctors appointments and taking Big Sis to preschool, I've been opting for comfy looks. And one of my favorite looks these days is the drop waist dress. It's comfy and chic and works great dressed up or down. I recently stopped into H&M to check out their fall arrivals and came across this printed drop waist dress that immediately grabbed my attention. It's a great Summer/Fall transition piece. Pair it with some gladiator sandals for Summer and some booties for fall. Or even add a pair of leggings and you've got a great fall look.

These are the kinds of pieces I've been looking to add to my closet since it's too hot here to even consider putting on a pair of jeans and will probably stay this way at least until October. I'm actually quite jealous of you ladies that are already breaking out some of those amazing fall pieces I've spotted at J. Crew. You won't catch me in any of that until the very end of the year or even January. Some may consider us lucky to live in sunny Socal but I'm ready for a break from this heat.

WIW: Summer Stripes

I'm assuming that by now, you all may have noticed my love of prints, all prints from florals to seahorses. I've rocked them all this Summer, but I feel like there is one print that stands the test of time. Stripes. They're just classic. And all Summer long when I don't know what to wear I just go right to my striped tee and find some inspiration. Pair it with shorts, jeans, skirt, or layered with a dress, it all works. You really can't go wrong with a striped tee, I guess that's probably why I own just about every kind of striped top, long sleeve, short sleeve, tank, peplum, the list goes on.
Today's outfit stemmed from the fact that I literally had no idea what I wanted to wear, and so I went straight for the stripes and kept the look simple. But even simple can be fun. I decided to change it up a bit glam up my typical casual Summer look by adding some fabulous metallic platforms.
Now, when I ordered these shoes I wasn't quite sure if I could rock them because they were a little naughty to me. But I've become obsessed with them. Worn casually they're not as naughty as I thought.
