Two-fer Tuesday: The Maxi Skirt

One of my favorite transitional pieces that will carry you through the entire year is a great maxi skirt. I love these flowing skirts because they're perfect for casual days or dressy nights. And a good maxi skirt can create a multitude of outfits.

I recently found this maxi skirt at Target for only $18. I've been on the hunt for a black maxi skirt and I thought this one was great for the price. I didn't want just any black maxi, at 5'4 length is a concern when purchasing maxi skirts and dresses. I always find that they're either too long or the material isn't great and will shrink and fade considerably when washed. And if you're looking for other fun colors this skirt also is available in coral and a greenish shade.

Here are two easy breezy ways to wear a maxi skirt this Summer. And coincidentally, both looks feature budget friendly pieces from Target.

WIW: Tomboy Chic

As a self proclaimed Girly Girl it's rare to catch me in something that's not feminine or flirty. But I do love this whole "borrowed from the boys" trend, everything from Boyfriend jeans to plaids and half tucked shirts. I never thought I would really be one to try this trend, but lately I've found that I'm drawn to this look. And add some sparkle to glam it up and it totally works for any Girly Girl.

Frankly, I cannot get over how comfortable I was in this outfit all day. And since I've been doing lots of party prepping for Baby Sis's first birthday party this weekend, this tomboy-ish look was perfect for running around, gathering the final pieces, and crafting.
Outfit Details:
Sweater: H&M [similar here] | Shirt: Joe Fresh for JCPenney | Shorts: Charlotte Russe [old, similar here and here] | Shoes: Simply Vera Wang [old] | Necklace: Luxe Craving | Bracelets: H&M, Groopdealz | Watch: Kenneth Cole via Nordstrom Rack [same here in rose gold] | Sunnies: Ray-Ban

And come back next week for all the details from Baby Sis's first birthday. I can't wait to share it with you all.

What I Wore: Knotty in Gingham

One of my favorite patterns to play with these days is gingham. I love the classic print. There are just so many ways to wear this preppy print.

With the weather warming up it's making it harder to wear all those button up shirts that I stalked up on last Fall and Winter. So an easy way to keep wearing those shirts is to simply knot the bottom of the shirt. But nothing along the lines of Britney Spears. It's much less scandalous and definitely more wearable to tie a low knot. So to not reveal too much skin. I determine how high to knot my tops based on the rise of my bottoms.  With a high waisted bottom you can get away with a knot higher up.

Simply knotting a shirt is also a great solution for all those tops that are bit too big. I have quite a few of those in closet so it's great that those shirts don't have to be shoved into a corner. This is one 90's trend revival I stand by.

Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Disneylad

Just another day at Disneyland. The weather was too amazing this week to not visit the happiest place on Earth. And I guess we weren't the only ones thinking that because the park was packed even more then usual for a weekday.

But the question always remains, what to wear? It's an all day trip and while it's in the upper 70s during the day it quickly cools off come late afternoon. So keeping it simple and dressing in layers are key to staying comfortable throughout the day. One of my favorite ways to look put together yet still feel completely comfortable and capable of running around and chasing my girls is pairing a white tee with a blazer and jeans.  And to dress up a white tee, I love adding a little sparkle with a statement necklace.[Sorry I didn't have any better outfit pictures.]
At the 4D Sneak Peek of The Great and Powerful Oz.
Before it got too hot while waiting in line, I also had this leopard scarf on. Never enough neck accessories.
The Details:
Blazer: H&M [old, similar here] | T-Shirt: Target [only $5 this week in stores, same here] | Scarf: Old Navy [similar here] | Jeans: American Eagle [same here] | Shoes: Simply Vera Wang [similar here] | Bag: Steve Madden [worn recently here] | Sunnies: Vince Camuto [same here] | Necklace: J. Crew Factory [same here] | Bracelet: Stella & Dot [FYI: be careful if you're planning on wearing you're Renegade bracelet to Disneyland, security will molest it and act like it's going to stab someone. So HIDE IT in your bag!]

We just love Disneyland, our girls definitely have a good time when we go. I mean look at my little Snow White spinning on the Tea Cups with her daddy. That little face says it all...pure happiness.
Sisters. This is what they do while waiting in line.
Snow White made a new friend while waiting in line in Cars Land. This wasn't the only friend she made that day. She found another little Snow White twin and immediately bonded over their dresses. Ha! Such a girly girl, bonding over clothes.
My littlest girl and I just hanging out and taking selfies. How cute is she in her chambray dress? Chambray on babies is a big YES!
Baby Sis's Outfit:
Dress: Baby Gap [old, belonged to Big Sis, loving this one] | Shoes: Old Navy [old, similar here] | Headband: Handmade by a friend
