WIW: Feeling Retro

It's all about the maxi dress this week! And this striped number I picked up at the Old Navy Blogger Night gives off a great retro vibe. Playing on that retro feel, I paired this dress with a gold turban headband from Jameson Monroe. There are so many great turban headbands available right now, but this gold one just grabbed my attention.

Beyond the fun 70's vibe this dress gives off, it's fast becoming a quick go-to piece when I'm in a hurry or too busy to put together an outfit. This week has been an absolutely crazy one with, Big Sis starting preschool, a trip to Disneyland, playdates, and dance class too. So there's nothing better then a great maxi dress that looks stylish without trying. And the swing fit of this maxi in particular leaves so much room for movement and feels so soft and airy which with the latest heat wave is totally necessary.

I adore vintage looks. I swear if I could live in any fashion era it definitely would be the 1930's-40's. To this day I love watching old movies just to admire their fashion. And Shabby Apple gives me a little taste of what was. Which is why I'm so obsessed with their classic A-line skirts and beautiful prints. For any girly girl who loved playing dress up and having tea parties as a child, this vintage inspired dress boutique is definitely a must shop.

Check out a few of my favorite pieces from Shabby Apple.

Friday Fancies: Retro Inspired Swimwear

Love it or hate it, retro inspired swimwear is popping up everywhere. With my Maui vacation just 2 weeks away, I've been on the hunt for a fun new bikini. And after looking online and in stores, I've noticed that just about everyone is coming up with their own retro bikini looks.

I personally think they're adorable. But I haven't seen it on anyone in person nor have I tried one on. Iconic women like Marilyn Monroe wore similar type bathing suits during their time and looked beautiful. But it makes me wonder are these types of swimwear more suited for certain body types.

Here's Taylor Swift spotted on several occasions in a retro inspired bathing suit.
And here are some I've found that caught my interest. What do you all think? Love them? or Hate them?
TopShop | ASOS | Betsey Johnson | Forever 21| ASOS

I'm caught in the middle with this trend. While I love the pin-up inpsired look I don't know if I could pull of this trend or even if it's suited for all body types. Personally I feel like the different cuts of the bottoms could possibly be quite unflattering. If the bottoms come up too high, would it cut into your stomach if say you're not as toned as these models. Or maybe these are going to be a great option for the ladies who've just given birth. And if you're like me, who enjoys a brazilian bikini bottom because well you're lacking a little oomph in the back end, are these going to be too much coverage?

I'm sure as the weather continues to heat up more of these will start to appear. I'm ready to see who will be sporting one this Summer. And you may just find me in one of these too.

I'm dying to hear your thoughts on this bikini trend, so please share.

What I Wore: Studs + Flared Jeans

Since retro looks are all the rage, I felt it was time to break out my Frankie B's. It's been quite some time since these jeans have seen some day light but it just felt so right this weekend. I put my flared jeans away a long time ago, but it seems that this fit is making its come back. And it was actually really nice to be wearing something other then skinny jeans. However, I still can't help but feel like I'm in high school again when I wear flares and funny enough I'm coming up on my high school reunion.

Do you guys still have your flared jeans hiding in your closet? I'm not a hoarder or anything but I find it hard to get rid of clothes that were priced over $100 whether or not I actually paid retail value for them. I guess that's why I'm bad at the whole Spring cleaning thing. But I am trying and have quite a pile growing that I'm going to have to put up on Poshmark here very soon.
The Details:

Getting in some quality Mommy and Nugget time while big sis is napping. I'm pretty sure she's trying to devise a way to get a taste of the leaves she found.
