One of my favorite Summer trends this year is hands down, neon. I love that it can transform a casual outfit into something that dazzles. And there were so many ways to wear it, from clothes to jewelry to handbags and shoes. I couldn't get enough of it. And if you're like me and love bright colors you'll be wearing neon well into Fall. Just because Summer is coming to an end doesn't mean all those bright colors need to be shelved till next year. Try pairing a neon shoe with dark or black jeans or one of my Fall favorites, leather like pants. But don't be expecting any of those outfits from me anytime soon because this hot and humid weather just does not seem to be letting up.

Two-fer Tuesday: The Maxi Skirt
One of my favorite transitional pieces that will carry you through the entire year is a great maxi skirt. I love these flowing skirts because they're perfect for casual days or dressy nights. And a good maxi skirt can create a multitude of outfits.
I recently found this maxi skirt at Target for only $18. I've been on the hunt for a black maxi skirt and I thought this one was great for the price. I didn't want just any black maxi, at 5'4 length is a concern when purchasing maxi skirts and dresses. I always find that they're either too long or the material isn't great and will shrink and fade considerably when washed. And if you're looking for other fun colors this skirt also is available in coral and a greenish shade.
Here are two easy breezy ways to wear a maxi skirt this Summer. And coincidentally, both looks feature budget friendly pieces from Target.

What I Wore: A Little Prabal Gurung and Target Love
The Prabal Gurung for Target collaboration launched last month and it's now on sale at your local Target store. There was nothing in the collection I wanted more then the sought after neon ankle strap heels and luckily there was one left in my size. WooHoo! I swear I checked several times at all 4 stores in my area and none had them. But while I was stopping in to grab some diapers and snacks for the little ones, I wandered through and noticed the entire collection was on sale. So I headed directly to the shoe department to see if they had any and to my surprise there they were, the neon heels. I definitely did the happy dance in the store at that moment. I mean I've become a little crazy about neon's and bright colors in general. I've never been one to wear tons of black. So this trend just hits the spot.
You can kind of see I'm still excited about my Target find. I could not wait to wear these pretty shoes. Only downfall these shoes run a tad big. I'm definitely going to have to grab some inserts and we'll be all set. Even so, these heels are quite comfy and perfect for the warmer days ahead.
The Details:
Blazer: Target [similar here, saw a similar one also at H&M on sale for $15 currently] | Top: Armani Exchange [similar here and here] | Jeans: American Eagle [same here] | Shoes: Prabal Gurung [similar here] | Bag: Target [last worn here, similar here] | Bracelets: Lotus Blossom Design [shop here], Groopdealz [similar here] | Sunnies: Vince Camuto [same here]
I cannot get over how much Target has been stepping up their game in the fashion department. It makes going to Target and walking out with just what I came for almost impossible to do. I am always getting sidetracked with all sorts of things. They're collaborations with high end designers just seem to be hitting the spot.
Speaking of collaborations, stay tuned because I'll be reviewing the Joe Fresh for JCPenney later this week.

What I Wore: Gingham + Neon
So my love of neon continues, whether it's neon pinks or yellows, I love them all. These bright hues are fun and can bring any outfit to life. And you don't have to look like you're from the 80's or 90's if you do it right.
Adding a pop of neon to an otherwise monochromatic look gives the outfit interest and is super chic.
Lately, I've also found myself layering button up tops too. But to keep from looking bulky make sure that the top underneath is a light material and more fitted to your body then the one on top.
