WIW: Tomboy Chic

As a self proclaimed Girly Girl it's rare to catch me in something that's not feminine or flirty. But I do love this whole "borrowed from the boys" trend, everything from Boyfriend jeans to plaids and half tucked shirts. I never thought I would really be one to try this trend, but lately I've found that I'm drawn to this look. And add some sparkle to glam it up and it totally works for any Girly Girl.

Frankly, I cannot get over how comfortable I was in this outfit all day. And since I've been doing lots of party prepping for Baby Sis's first birthday party this weekend, this tomboy-ish look was perfect for running around, gathering the final pieces, and crafting.
Outfit Details:
Sweater: H&M [similar here] | Shirt: Joe Fresh for JCPenney | Shorts: Charlotte Russe [old, similar here and here] | Shoes: Simply Vera Wang [old] | Necklace: Luxe Craving | Bracelets: H&M, Groopdealz | Watch: Kenneth Cole via Nordstrom Rack [same here in rose gold] | Sunnies: Ray-Ban

And come back next week for all the details from Baby Sis's first birthday. I can't wait to share it with you all.

What I Wore: Chambray My Way

As Spring approaches, I've begun thinking about our upcoming vacations and what I'm going to be bringing along. We're headed to Vegas this weekend and then Maui in April. Since we'll  be flying and baggage fees are just ridiculous these days, I've come to realize that the clothes I bring are going to have to do double duty. So I thought I would share it with you all too in case any of you are planning a getaway and finding packing for a flight daunting.

In my personal opinion, a chambray shirt is an essential. This shirt is one of the most versatile pieces I own. That's why I almost always take it wherever I go.

1. Chambray + Skirt
When I was working, this was my typical Casual Friday look. For a more edgy look, I often times like pairing this top with my faux leather fringe skirt, obviously I wouldn't wear that too work. But it does make for a fun weekend outfit.
The Details:
Top: Forever 21 [similar here and here] | Skirt: H&M [similar here and here] | Shoes: H&M | Necklace: F21 [same here] | Sunnies: Vince Camuto [same here]

2. Denim on Denim
This is one of my favorite trends in the recent year. Creating a great denim on denim look is simple, just make sure each piece makes a statement of its own. Adding a bright colored shoe will add interest, giving you a fresh look without making you appear like a redneck. We all know we don't want that.
The Details:
Top: F21 & H&M [similar here and here] | Shorts: Charlotte Russe [an oldie but one of my favorite fits, similar here] | Shoes: J. Crew [similar here] | Belt: Gap [similar here] | Necklace: Nordstrom Rack [similar here] | Bracelets: GroopDealz and Stella & Dot | Sunnies: Vince Camuto [see link above]

3. Chambray + Sun Dress
A chambray button up is a great little cover up for a sun dress on those days when it's too cool to be sleeveless but too warm to be covered from head to toe. I absolutely love throwing my chambray top over dresses when a cardigan just doesn't seem to cut it.
The Details:
Top: F21 | Dress: Abercrombie & Fitch [similar here] | Shoes: Crew Cuts [similar here] | Necklace: Luxe Craving [last seen here] | Sunnies: Vince Camuto

4. A Little More Denim on Denim
I told you this was one of my favorite looks. To create a different look, try pairing the chambray top with a pair of printed denim shorts. I also love knotting the top to really create a great casual look perfect for the 80 degree + weather days.
The Details:
Top: F21 | Shorts: American Eagle [similar here and here] | Shoes: Target [new in stores] | Belt: F21 [similar here] | Bracelets: GroopDealz and Stella & Dot | Sunnies: Vince Camuto

Now on to the actual business of packing. Lets hope I can actually stick to this, because in theory this is a smart idea. But I'm awful at just packing the necessities, I always think I need more then I really do. Ha!

Hope you all have a great weekend! Vegas here I come!
