Overalls

So I finally found them, the overalls that fit just right. I did quite a search for these. My requirements were that they tapered at the end but still had a relaxed boyfriend fit without being too baggy. If you're like me then you know that this is a hard combination to find. I've never bought an actual pair of boyfriend jeans because they are always too baggy. I just buy regular skinny jeans in the next size up to achieve the look. I've found that many actual "boyfriend" jeans literally can be put on and taken off without unbuttoning or unzipping. And clearly that's not going to work.

But going back to these overalls, I'm very satisfied with the fit and wash. And the price was very reasonable. So if you are considering a pair you must check out Express for these overalls. Plus they always have great discount offers. I hardly shop at Express but I am obsessed with these.  I wore them with flats while taking the girls to dance class and then switched them up for some neon heels later in the day.

Birthday Suit

I had wanted to share this look sooner, but this past week has been one extremely long drawn out week. So I'm excited to finally get to share the details of what I wore for my birthday dinner.

After 4 years of laying low on my birthday, I thought it was time to step it up and get fabulous for my 29th. I've spent the past 4 birthday's either preggers, about to pop, or taking care of an infant. So it was time to do something fun and what's more fun then a girls night in Hollywood! We had reservations for SUR restaurant. And if you don't already know, SUR is a trendy restaurant and lounge in West Hollywood and the focal point of the Bravo hit show, Vanderpump Rules. So clearly, I had to go all out for my night out and nothing screams fabulous better then a little Marchesa!
Normally, I'm all about piling on the accessories, but tonight, I wanted the dress to sparkle all on its own. And I'm not ashamed to admit this is a kids dress. I hate being on the verge of petite and regular sizing. At 5'4 I'm usually somewhere in between so depending on brand I can go either way. I will always say the best part of being on the petite side is being able to snag a few goodies in kids department.

Tickled Pink

What's a more perfect outfit to wear on your birthday then a pouffy pink skirt!?  I'm celebrating 29 fabulous years today and there's nothing better than feeling like a princess.

This magenta skirt from H&M is just perfection! I'm obsessed with midi length skirts, especially paired with a crop top. Personally, I prefer a shrunken top versus the crop top, it covers just a bit more skin than a crop top and is much more accessible for everyday wear.

Colorful Spring Layers

If I had to pick a season that best fit my style, it would most definitely be Spring. I love color, especially shades of pink. That's why I had to snatch up this pink skirt from H&M's collection with Miranda Kerr. Best part is the skirt was only $14.95, basically a steal! It's the perfect Spring addition to any wardrobe. And really, who doesn't adore Miranda Kerr's ladylike style!?

Easy Easter Cupcakes

With Easter just days away, I wanted to share a fun little activity I like to do with my girls. We don't get to crazy in our house over Easter,  but I do try to incorporate some elements of the holiday just so the girls can have some fun seasonal things to do.
A tradition of ours is to make Easter cupcakes it's pretty much the same each year but as they get a year older they become more involved in making them. And they're always excited to help more in the kitchen. It's super easy to make and what kid doesn't enjoy playing with frosting and candy.
What You'll Need:
-cupcake liners
-cake mix [boxed or your own recipe will do]
-frosting [can or your own recipe]
-bag of coconut flakes
-egg shaped candy [we used M&M's this year, but in the years past we've used mini Robin's eggs]
-small ziploc bag
-blue & green food dye [you could just use green but I like to add a little blue]
First, bake your cupcakes. Once they're done let them cool. While they're cooling, fill your ziploc bag with the coconut flakes add a few drops of dye, and let your little ones shake away. I made 2 baggies so each one of my girls could make their own "grass."
Once they've cooled and the coconut flakes now look like grass. Frost the cupcakes and let the little ones decorate to their hearts desire. They'll be so proud of themselves and eating and sharing them will be that much more fun.
FYI, the aprons are from Target. They were in the dollar section months ago.

Hope you all a wonderful Easter weekend!

Denim Days

There was a time in my life where I absolutely dreaded denim. And honestly I can't believe I ever felt that way. I blame the awkward middle school years and questionable fashion choices for those feelings. I just can't imagine anything better than a few great denim staples and that's what this denim vest really is. It's such a great layering piece, especially since it's been too warm for a denim jacket but still cool enough in the evenings for light outerwear.

Overalls: Fad or Fab?

With so many new trends constantly arising, we all have to make a choice whether it's worth trying or just leaving it to the Kardashian's to make a fool of themselves in.

The trend that I'm coveting and I believe is having a major fashion moment right now is, overalls. We all remember these from when we were kids, they weren't the hottest things around but they definitely had their moment. But now we're seeing it popping up in stores, on celebs and bloggers alike.
Take a look at how these fashionista's styled their overalls.
I, personally, am kind of obsessed with this piece of clothing. And it's definitely not like the ones I wore as a kid. Instead many brands are making a go at this trend and taking it from just functional to fabulous. Short or long, both seem to be making a comeback and I can't wait to wear my overalls.

Here are some of the overalls I've found during my search for the right pair.
What do you think? Will you be trying this trend?

Cheers to the 90's

Even though it's 2014, I swear when I go into stores like Forever 21 and H&M, it's like I'm right back in my childhood. It's like the 90's have returned, denim skirts, acid wash everything, overalls, crop tops, mix and match separates and even keds, these are all things I grew up wearing. Now they've all come back in style again.

Anyways, if you haven't taken notice of it yourself then just head on over to your local mall and check out the 90's revival. But for many of us it's a little too much. So instead it's a better idea to just take a small element of the 90's trend and work it into your everyday look, to keep from seeming like you're trying to hard.

I vowed I would never tie another shirt or sweatshirt around my waist after about the 10th grade, but I guess I'm breaking that vow. Because I actually find if paired with a chic pair of faux leather shorts it can really work. And don't forget to add some sparkle and girly accessories to pull this look together and keep it from looking like you were just too lazy to hold your shirt.
